Location: The Loft, 532 W 25th Street, New York, NY, 10001
This March, the walls of The Loft will come alive with the work of American abstract expressionist Alicia Jean McIntosh, offering a rare encounter with her layered world of texture, movement, and quiet strength.
Alicia Jean McIntosh is an American abstract expressionist artist working through texture, movement, and emotional depth. McIntosh creates paintings shaped by memory, resilience, and lived experience. Each work holds what cannot be spoken, built slowly through layered surfaces and quiet force.
Using acrylics and mixed media, McIntosh allows intuition to guide the process. Paint is added, disrupted, and reshaped, revealing tension, erosion, and renewal. Control and release exist together, mirroring the way growth follows damage.
McIntosh brings discipline and clarity to her practice through her background as a U.S. Army veteran, former gallery owner, and trained communicator. Structure supports the work without limiting it. Imperfection remains visible, honored as part of truth rather than something to be fixed.
Based in Pennsylvania, McIntosh works from her home studio, which is closely connected to the land and her daily rhythm. Writing, gardening, and beekeeping influence the pace and spirit of her practice. Her paintings invite the viewer to slow down, feel deeply, and find strength within abstraction.
