Exploring the learning from the One Call That’s All pilot and the future of coordinated household support.
About this Event

What if people experiencing fuel and food poverty only had to ask for help once?

Join us as we reveal how the One Call, That's All (OCTA) framework identified over £3.3 million in unclaimed household income and reduced reported household stress levels from 48% to 11%.

The OCTA pilot was commissioned by Utilita Giving to test whether a coordinated, single-entry support model could help households access the financial and practical support they need through one integrated service. Two years on, this event will bring together policymakers, charities, energy sector leaders, and delivery partners to explore the learning emerging from the pilot and discuss what coordinated household support could look like in the future.

Key takeaways

By attending this event you will:

  • Learn about the design and development of the OCTA pilot and the strategic decision by Trustees to invest £2.2m into high-velocity social infrastructure
  • Discover how the OCTA framework restores household agency, moving beneficiaries to a "Hope Score" of 8.0, significantly surpassing the UK national average
  • Understand how the OCTA model provides a "plug-and-play" solution to help the energy sector meet Consumer Duty requirements for Sustainable Affordability
  • Learn from the experience of charities and delivery partners working on the ground to provide "Dignity Support" through rapid white goods installation and material aid
  • Join the discussion on how services supporting households in crisis could evolve into a sector-neutral national standard

About the event

Across the UK, households experiencing financial hardship often encounter the inefficient "referral merry-go-round" and a "complexity crisis." People may be referred between multiple organisations for help with energy costs, benefits, debt, or essential household needs – frequently repeating their trauma several times before receiving meaningful assistance.

The One Call, That’s All (OCTA) pilot was created to test whether a different approach could improve outcomes for households facing fuel and food poverty. Through a single referral and discovery conversation, the OCTA model connects households to coordinated support including 12 months of ring-fenced specialist casework, practical assistance, and local charitable services.

The goal is to stabilise households by addressing the range of pressures affecting them at the same time, moving them from debt-paralysis to long-term financial agency.

What the event will explore

  • The Anatomy of a Case: A deep-dive into the OCTA mechanics and the "Income Engine" that identified £3.3m in support
  • Transformation Proof: An exclusive anonymised call recording documenting the exact moment a household moves from crisis to agency
  • The Dignity Pillar: How rapid white goods delivery via The Furnishing Service and local partners stabilises homes
  • Scaling for the Future: The potential of the UGive Shop digital pipeline as a national infrastructure for public giving and sector-wide collaboration
