One Body is a study of how two (or more) bodies can move/act as one.
The question is not if it is possible - because it is - but what are the requirements for the two or the many to move/act as one creative entity, to enter such a shared state of collaboration and co-creation during a contact improvisation dance.
We will be mainly researching one of the definitions of CI by Steve Paxton in 2015:
"𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑠𝑜𝑛 𝑖𝑡𝑠 𝑐𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑒𝑑 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑡𝑎𝑐𝑡 𝑖𝑚𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑣𝑖𝑠𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑖𝑠 𝑏𝑒𝑐𝑎𝑢𝑠𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝑖𝑠 𝑎 3𝑟𝑑 𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑎𝑟𝑖𝑠𝑒𝑠 𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑡𝑒.

𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 "3𝒓𝒅 𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒕𝒚"? 𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒕 𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒆?
𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒇𝒖𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒕𝒘𝒐 (𝒐𝒓 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆) 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒇𝒖𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒐𝒏𝒆?
𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒊𝒏𝒗𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇 𝒊𝒏 𝒑𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒏𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔?
The last question is for me the driving force that moves me towards sharing this research. In summary, because it makes good dancing! And who doesn't want good dancing..?
Good dancing not only for myself, hopefully for my partner(s) and for anyone else witnessing the dance too. To reframe and remember that dance is not about self-indulgence, but 𝑎 𝑔𝑒𝑛𝑒𝑟𝑜𝑢𝑠 𝑎𝑐𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑠ℎ𝑎𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑜𝑛𝑒𝑠𝑒𝑙𝑓 𝑤ℎ𝑜𝑙𝑒 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑎𝑛𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟.
