Combining two incredible hobbies? Yep! It’s not only possible, but extremely enjoyable.This free workshop is designed to give anglers the information and skills needed to safely and successfully fish from a kayak. As part of the team, you will gain hands-on experience with all aspects of your kayak fishing trip from set-up to recovery. With the support of NCWRC staff and volunteer instructors, you will practice paddling fundamentals and test your new skills as we try our luck fishing on the McKinney Lake. The 'Introduction to Kayak Fishing' class is a prerequisite to this experience.
PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS:
Participants must attend a Kayak Fishing Workshop Class (virtual or in-person) to participate in this on-the-water kayak fishing outing.
Participant age minimum: 14 years old.
Each participating 14 or 15 year old will require one registered, participating adult parent or guardian.
A valid NC fishing license is required.
Participants may only attend one Kayak Fishing Outing per year.
RECOMMENDATIONS / CONSIDERATIONS
Attendance in our class: Adult Basic Fishing.
Weight capacity of our kayaks is 275 pounds.
Ability to swim.
Ability to sit for an extended period.
Ability to standup from a seated position without assistance.
Ability to carry 50 lbs.
Ability to manage personal care independently or with assistance of a companion.
Ability to manage personal mobility independently or with a reasonable amount of assistance.
Ability to get on / off or in / out of a sit-on-top kayak independently or with a reasonable amount of assistance.
