This class is designed to give anglers and paddlers the information required to safely and successfully fish in sheltered waters from a kayak. First, participants will learn the basics of kayak fishing in the classroom including equipment, outfitting and safety. Next, we move to one of the Pechmann Centers ponds for hands-on instruction in basic kayak operation.PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS:
-Participant age minimum: 14 years old.
-Each participating 14- or 15-year-old will require one registered, participating adult parent or guardian.
RECOMMENDATIONS / CONSIDERATIONS
-The weight capacity of our kayaks is 275 pounds.
-Ability to swim.
-Ability to sit for an extended period.
-Ability to stand up from a seated position without assistance.
-Ability to carry 50 lbs.
-Ability to manage personal care independently or with the assistance of a companion.
-Ability to manage personal mobility independently or with a reasonable amount of assistance.
-Ability to get on / off a sit-on-top kayak independently or with a reasonable amount of assistance.
