The Contemporary Art Modern Project in collaboration with Red Thread Art Studio Miami presents a new series of activations for our current exhibition Under The Red Tent , on view at the gallery through April 26th.

This Saturday, March 14th exhibiting artists Kátia Bandeira de Mello, Flávia Fortuna and Eva LLarena are leading a creative workshop that activates the Red Tent through a poetic fanzine drawing, collaging and writing experience.
The artists will start the workshop with a selection of prompts (poems in English, Spanish or Portuguese) and materials, inviting participants to respond to the Red Tent experience by making observational notes, scribbling, scrabbling, cutting and pasting, perhaps even initiating a future project triggered by the new ideas generated.
Materials to be used: Large sheets of paper to be folded, pencils, scissors, collage material, water glue, poetry books, participants’s own verses . We encourage all participants to bring your own materials as well.
Kátia Bandeira de Mello
Kátia Bandeira de Mello is a fiction writer, poet and visual artist born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil who moved from London to New York City in 1998. Since 2022, Bandeira has relocated to Miami where she works out of the collective Red Thread Art Studio founded by Aurora Molina. Author of several books of fiction, poetry, essays and illustration, Bandeira has studied Art at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York, The Art Students League of New York, EAV - Escola do Parque Lage (Brazil), Fondazioni Zavrel (Sarmede, Italy), Billar de Letras e Laboratorio Emilia (Madri, Spain) and ArCo (Lisbon, Portugal). Her main media is watercolor.
Flávia Fortuna
Flávia Fortuna is a Brazilian visual artist working with porcelain and fiber. Born in Brazil, she has lived between Brazil, Colombia and the United States, and has been based in Miami since 2015.
Originally trained in Ph*rm*cy and Biochemistry, she later expanded her interests into gastronomy and the culture of the table, experiences that continue to shape her attention to material, gesture and care. Fortuna currently works out of the collective Red Thread Art Studio in Miami. Her practice explores transformation and presence through porcelain painting and textile structures.Her main media are porcelain and fiber.
Eva Llarena
Eva Llarena is a multimedia artist that uses bright and colorful materials when tufting, bookmaking, painting, and drawing to spark curiosity, explore material possibilities, and create room for play for herself and her audience. Her upbringing in Miami, Florida, and her experiences teaching children have impacted her color palette and material sensitivity. Color becomes a conduit for emotional resonance and visual poetry. Eva crafts a whimsical world through her art, with the “misuse” of traditional mediums in order to shape spaces, spark conversation, and inviting all to partake in the joy of creation.

Info: A hands-on workshop exploring the symbolism of wool, softness, and inherited memory. Participants create small fiber forms connected by red thread, reflecting on maternal bonds and generational continuity.

March 28th- Opening The Thread: Collective Weaving Circle
Host: The Contemporary Art Modern Project
Info: An intergenerational weaving session inside the Red Tent. Participants are invited to sit, stitch, and contribute a red thread to a growing communal textile. The activation reflects on ancestral labor, women’s circles, and textile as shared language.
