Get ready to dive into the heart of house music history. On SATURDAY, JANUARY 17, 2026, at 1240 Thurlow St, doors open at 10:00 PM (Pacific Time) for a night dedicated exclusively to classic house.
From the soulful, pioneering grooves of Chicago — thanks to legends like Frankie Knuckles (often called the “Godfather of House”) who, as the resident DJ at the famed The Warehouse in Chicago, began reshaping disco into a whole new sound.
…to the bold evolution of the scene in New York with figures like Todd Terry who fused hip-hop breaks, disco, and the Chicago house sound to create a distinctly New York house energy.
Expect deep rhythms, infectious vocals, piano stabs, classic grooves and that unmistakable four-on-the-floor beat. Whether you lived it or simply love it, this is your night to reconnect with the roots and the raw emotion of house.
Dress smart-casual, bring your dancing shoes (and your heart for the beat). Let’s move together, let the music take over, and stay ON AIR.
Artist Highlights
- Frankie Knuckles: Born in New York but made his name in Chicago’s underground clubs, where he extended disco breaks and layered drum-machine loops to help birth the house genre.
- Todd Terry: A Brooklyn-born DJ/producer who took house into new territory in New York in the late ’80s/’90s by sampling disco, hip-hop and Chicago house — creating crossover hits and an unmistakable NYC-house style.
We’ll play homage to the pioneers, the floor-fillers, the anthems and the energy that built the sound. Get ready for a night where the past grooves meet the present vibe — born in Chicago, grown in New York, danced here in Vancouver.
