OMG Women Outreaching Women's Fundraising Lunch Event is happening on Historical Bruce's Beach a Black American beach resort at Manhattan Beach in Los Angeles County, California. Bruce's Beach was one of the most prominent Black-owned resorts by the sea and the home to Black Beachgoers in the 1900's but the city ran them out. The land has since been returned to the Bruce's descendants. This is an opportunity for attendees to experience this park with its jasmine and coastal live oak, overlooking the sea. Relax and enjoy the scenery as you drink mocktails, and partake of the delectable food choices. The afternoon with kick off with Historian, Alison Rose Jefferson Ph.D., who will give her historical overview of the history of Bruce's Beach. She'll follow up with an introduction and book-signing of her book "Living the California Dream: African American Leisure Sites during the Jim Crow Era". The Book was the winner of the Los Angeles City Historical Society's Miriam Matthews ethnic history award for exceptional contributions to the greater understanding and awareness of Los Angeles history in 2020. Also, Cedric Jones of Beastie Boxing Gym who will share his knowledge and provide education on a variety of good health related topics including tips on healthy eating, how to read product food labels, exercising tips and so much more!
