Every month, neighbors, families, and friends gather at Okra Abbey to share food, grow community, and care for the garden together. For December, we’re seeking collaborations across garden, civic, arts, wellness, and community organizing groups to bring their gifts and energy into our space.
With our Lead Gardener, we’ll learn how the garden connects to the food we enjoy at the community table, while working side by side to strengthen community ties and nurture the land.

Okra Abbey – 1800 Monroe St, New Orleans Public School Property
Entrance gates: Hickory Street & Eagle Street

We welcome groups, families, and individuals of all backgrounds to come work alongside neighbors in our community giving garden.
🌱 Weekly Hours:
• Mon–Thurs, 8:30 AM–12:30 PM
• Coffee on Mon/Tues/Thurs at 8:30 AM
• Grace & Greens community meal every Wednesday at Noon
100% of what we grow is shared through our Wednesday lunch and directly with our neighbors.
