We will be evaluating our first sea turtle nest laid on Okaloosa Island on Sunday, August 17th at 6:45 pm. Access the beach from Beach Access #4 (600 Santa Rosa Blvd, Fort Walton Beach, FL). The nest will be in front of Waters Edge Condominiums.
Please join us to learn about our sea turtles and how successful this nest was!
This is a nest evaluation being conducted 72 hours AFTER the nest has hatched. We will not be interfering with the incubation process at all. This is an assessment to determine how many eggs were laid and how many of them hatched and all of this data is reported to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
All of this work is conducted by a permitted and trained team, Destin - Fort Walton Beach Sea Turtle Patrol, under FWC Marine Turtle Permit #251.
