In this four-session portrait painting course, students will learn the foundations of oil painting and portraiture while creating a finished portrait from start to finish. Over four 2-hour classes, we will cover essential techniques including paint and materials handling, color mixing for skin tones, drawing and proportion of the face, values, and simple lighting. You will be guided step-by-step through the full portrait process from initial sketch and underpainting to building form, refining features, and adding final details.This class is ideal for beginners to early / intermediate painters who would like a clear, supportive introduction to oil painting while gaining confidence in painting people and faces. By the end of the series, each student will complete a finished oil portrait and leave with a strong understanding of the basic tools and techniques needed to continue painting portraits independently
$195 for 4 week plus a materials fee of $40 per student paid directly to Alison
