1 Day Course (£65)

Sunday 2nd June, 11:30am-4:30pm

---------------------------------------------------------

Programme:

Learn to create layers, depth of colour and textures using Oils and Cold Wax Medium in this one day workshop led by established artist Amanda Oliphant.

Amanda will demonstrate her own techniques whilst you work along side her over the four hour workshop. Attendees must have some experience of working with oils prior to this course. (suitable for adults only).

Discover the advantages of working with cold wax, its transparency and reactive elements when mixed with opaques and semi-transparent oils. See how it evaporates and hardens over the drying time. Cold Wax is malleable, you can move it around, working back into the surface. You can build multiple layers, allowing each layer to semi dry in between applications working with ‘reduction’ techniques using different tools to scrap into the surface.

We will use different drawing materials such as oil pastels & oil sticks to create meaningful marks beneath the surface, these may/may-not be exposed later, techniques known as excavation and sgraffito.

Tutor: Amanda Oliphant

Amanda Oliphant graduated with a BA (Hons) degree in Fine Art at LJMU followed by an MA in Art as Environment at MMU. Amanda is an established painter and tutor and leads workshops on her expressive style in oils.
