The 2026 Ohio Bat Blitz will be hosted by Metroparks Toledo on July 17-18, 2026, at Wildwood Preserve Metropark.
What is a bat blitz? Bat blitzes aim to survey areas where data on bat populations is lacking. Qualified, permitted biologists with experience and expertise use mist nets to capture bats and collect data on these amazing flying mammals. Visitors of all ages can come learn all about the Ohio Bat Blitz and how to help these cute critters. Check out bat detector tools, visit a mist net, and meet a live bat with Nature's Nursery. This will be a walking tour on uneven ground. We have one all-terrain power wheelchair, called the track chair, and it is available during this event.

Minors must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the tour. Please dress for the weather and wear closed-toe shoes. No flip-flops.
Staff can adapt many programs to be accessible to anyone who would like to participate.
