Sign up here: https://forms.gle/UGcNgNY3ebiFNn2R9Join us Sunday September 21st @Golden Gardens for a day of volleyball, fun, and community spirit, rain or shine! We’re keeping the tradition alive with the annual end-of-summer coed volleyball tournament, started by Seattle volleyball legend and friend, Sophy Math.
Sign up with a partner and secure your spot—just $70 per team. Payment can be sent via Venmo to @calebmlove ( 206-406-6849 ). As a memorial, friends of Sophy will be prioritized before opening up registration to other players. There are no refunds. If you can’t make it, please arrange for someone to take your spot.
The tournament is all about fun, and we’ve got some unique rule modifications inspired by Sophy himself.
Half-Shot Rule-Mods
• Take a shot after each win.
• Use a mulligan to replay a point.
• Call in a friend for one point.
• “You No Hit” – for three consecutive points, your opponents can’t spike the ball!
This year we are bringing in a new element 'Kojo's Wheel of Death' and associated challenges will be there in lieu of some of the shot mods.
These mods are subject to change.
The tournament is lighthearted and social, it’s also designed with a bit of celebratory fun (and drinks!) in mind. If that’s not quite your vibe, this might not be the best fit for you—no pressure, just looking to keep the spirit of Sophy’s tourney alive.
This year, we’re introducing a fun new style of play designed to keep the action moving and the tournament flowing faster. Here’s how it works:
• Continuous Play: After each point, teams will switch off, and the next team in the rotation will jump on.
• Shared Court: Two teams will share a court at a time, swapping in after every point.
• Reffing: Teams that are “off” will handle reffing duties.
Some of us have already been playing this way, and it’s been a blast! Just keep in mind—it’s a different rhythm than you might be used to, kind of like the shift from sideout scoring to rally scoring. Once you get into the flow, it keeps things moving and makes for an exciting, social game pace.
Teams are encouraged to bring drinks to share, and in the spirit of celebration, we hope you’ll coordinate with others on food, fire, and other ways to celebrate!
Seeking Volunteers!
We could use a few extra hands to make the tournament run smoothly. If you can help with any of the following, we’d love to have you on the team:
• Running brackets
• Organizing food and tables
• Arriving early to help set up portables
If you’re able to pitch in, please reach out—your help makes all the difference!
Whether you’re here to compete or just have a good time, join us in celebrating community and keeping Sophy’s tradition alive.
