In January 2024, Off the Page presented, **How to Survive an Apocalypse written by Jordan Hall. ** It was one of our best attended readings and, at the end, sparked a lively talk-back with the playwright.
On **January 12th, 2025,** we will present **Kayak** which is another of Jordan Hall’s plays. The play is about how a middle-class mom, her university-student son, and his activist girlfriend respond to the threat of global warming. ***Kayak*** is essentially about the relationship between the two women who are competing for Peter’s affections. Describing the woman who might become her daughter-in-law, Annie says, “She was the sort of girl who floated around the world spraying Japanese whaling boats with fire hoses, planting trees, and making perfectly nice people uncomfortable at parties.”
***Jordan Hall*** is an award-winning playwright and screenwriter, best known for her plays **Kayak**, **How to Survive an Apocalypse**, and the cult-hit web series **Carmilla** (over 70 million views on YouTube.) Her work focuses on the exploration of genre, socio-political inequality, ecological crisis, and the creation of deeply-compelling female protagonists — and has been dubbed “fresh and funny” by The Daily Mail, “sharp and witty” by Broadway World, and “a zesty treat” by The Telegraph. Her television credits include story editor and writer on Global’s Family Law, and the supernatural drama Chaos Theory, on option with Seven24.
