About this Event
Join us for a festive conversation with music supervisor Ollie White and composer Chris Roe, as they reflect on their creative practice, the role of music in storytelling, and how they collaborate to create screen magic.
After the talk, there's a drink on us and a chance to celebrate the past year!
Chris Roe
Chris Roe is an Ivor Novello–nominated composer and multi-instrumentalist known for his distinctive blend of orchestral and acoustic elements.
A classically trained pianist and string player, and a graduate of the Royal College of Music, Chris draws on a wide-ranging musical background. Equally at home working with a full orchestra as with a broken tape machine or vintage synth, he approaches each project from scratch, bringing a fresh and inventive perspective.
His recent film credits include The Salt Path, starring Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs, and Blue Jean, winner of the Audience Award at the Venice Film Festival. He previously scored the BAFTA-winning After Love, which earned him Best Original Score at the Les Arcs Film Festival and an MAS Award nomination. He has also completed the score for the dark comedy-thriller Bad Apples (Pulse Films), starring Saoirse Ronan.
For television, Chris has finished scoring The Lady for Left Bank Pictures (creators of The Crown), set for release in 2026. He composed the score for Netflix’s Robbie Williams documentary (MAS Award nominee for Best Original Score), the BBC One series Wolf for Hartswood Films, and all series of Trigger Point, created by Jed Mercurio. He has also scored Anthony Horowitz’s latest M**der mystery thriller Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue, described as “Agatha Christie meets Lost.”
Ollie White
Ollie is a London based Music Supervisor who is part of the music supervision collective, Theodore Music. He is best known for his work on the HBO TV series 'Industry', the latest BBC and Disney revamp of ‘Doctor Who’ and the hit SKY/STARZ series, ‘Sweetpea’. With a background in music production, music editing and music licensing, Ollie specializes in building unique and original sound-worlds that bring to life stories and their characters. Starting with creative mood-board treatments for sonic direction at script stage, to music editing for both score and needle drops, through to music rights negotiation and licencing.
Working in the industry for ten plus years, Ollie has a varied list of collaborators ranging from Lena Dunham, Russell T Davies, Jane Tranter, Michael Gracey, Duncan Jones, Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, to recording artists like Thom Yorke, Alison Goldfrapp and Chemical Brothers, to networks HBO, Paramount, Disney, BBC and SKY and brands like Alexander McQueen and Google. Beyond music supervision, Ollie's knowledge and taste has led him to curate music for London Fashion Week, London Film Festival, Newport Beach Film Festival and Davos World Economic Forum.
