Her Talk: Betta fish varieties over time
She will explore the history of how these fish came into the hobby and go over some of the many types and varieties.
Bio:
Barbara is a passionate hobbyist who has been surrounded by fish and nature throughout her life. Her uncle started the addiction with a few fish tanks in Mexico City that still stand today 30+ years later. Growing up in Cancun provided great opportunities to be close to nature, thus becoming an avid scuba diver and working at an ecological park with several exotic animals.
The obsession continued once in the US by working at pet stores for several years and keeping several fresh and saltwater tanks.
She currently keeps several planted tanks with nano fish and enjoys experimenting with different methods and techniques.
Costume Contest:
With Halloween around the corner from our meeting, we will have our 1st ever Halloween Costume Contest. Aquarium-related costumes will be strongly encouraged.
Mini-swap:
Open to all attendees. It will consist of shared tables free of charge. Sell/Trade aquatic livestock (such as fish, shrimp, or any other Maryland legal aquatic pets), aquatic plants, fish food (live foods are encouraged), or other aquarium related items. *Please share what you plan to bring and/or your in search of (ISO) by Friday September 13 (in the discussion area of the event)!*
Any aquarist who sticks around after the meeting will be invited to participate in some Aquarium themed board game fun.
