We are back in O’Connor Lane Park to plant again. Past plantings are doing really well but there is room for more native trees and shrubs. The plan is to connect the three islands of plantings done over the previous 15 years into one large patch. This will support more pollinators and wildlife. The City of Guelph is supplying the plants, water and mulch. Trees for Guelph is bringing the shovels and buckets. Join us at any time between 9:30 and 12:30. Planting demonstrations run continuously so you can learn the best techniques for transplanting.
Dress for rain or shine in layers so you are comfortable. No such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothing.
Bring a full refillable water bottle, a litterless snack to keep you energized and garden gloves if you don’t like getting soil under your fingernails.
A special invitation goes out to high school students looking to earn volunteer hours. Please bring your log sheet to record your participation.
This event is free and great fun for any age. If you have never planted a tree before, please join us for a new experience. You can learn about the plants that grow in our city and participate in the transformation of a park.
You can RSVP on Facebook @TreesforGuelph or come by on Saturday morning and start planting!
