Introducing a brand NEW band, with one of their first ever performances, however, they have names you may well know very well indeed! Multi-instrumentalists Tom Oakes and Ali Hutton, are joined by the relative young newcomer, Matt Tighe (fiddle).
Matt Tighe, born into an Irish and Trinidadian background, studied Classical Violin at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, however is fast establishing himself in the folk/trad world. Matt has won numerous All Britain Championships, been a finalist in the Danny Kyle Award at Celtic Connections and a semi finalist at the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award.
Ali Hutton, originally from Perthshire, is a musician (pipes, whistle, guitar), producer and composer and has performed and worked alongside some of the most respected musicians + bands on the scene such as Capercaillie, Dougie Maclean, Carlos Nunez, Deaf Shepherd, Salsa Celtica, Shooglenifty, Old Blind Dogs, Finlay MacDonald (+band), Grit! Orchestra, Treacherous Orchestra, Ross Ainslie and Ali Hutton’s ‘Symbiosis’, Tryst, Malin Lewis and From the Ground. Ali has travelled throughout the world in a varied, creative and interesting journey thus far.
Tom Oakes, originally from Devon, now calls Edinburgh home. A well known face at the cities sessions, this multi-instrumentalist (flute, whistles, guitar, Bouzouki) is also a composer, teacher, an established producer and accomplished sound designer. Playing extensively with OBT, Ross Couper and Auvo Quartet, he is a versatile and well established folk musician (and accompanist), with an extensive and diverse portfolio of music in + out of folk/trad music. He has recently completed another successful run of “The Hearth” at the Scottish Storytelling Centre/Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
