About this Event
Join us for the film screening of O Brave New World- A collaboration between the arts, criminal justice and higher education. This unique documentary film (30 minutes) takes you directly into HMP New Hall and follows a durational weekly collaborative arts project delivered by York St John University Pr*son Partnership Project and KPPL Productions in response to the Donmar Warehouse all female play The Tempest led by Harriet Walter.
You will see the practice in action, hear directly from the women about the impact of this work, witness reflections from those in the arts, academia and criminal justice sectors and understand how relational, partnership ways of working and the arts are vital for recovery and rehabilitation in the criminal justice system for women and girls.
Following the film screening Kate Pakenham (Producer) will host a panel discussion with Julia Spence (Governor of HMP New Hall and Askham Grange) Rachel Conlon (Director of York St John University Pr*son Partnership Project) Phyllida Lloyd (Director of Donmar Warehouse Shakespeare Trilogy) and Jordana Golbourn (Artist Facilitator and Researcher). This is a chance to hear further from the web of women leading this collaboration and for you to ask questions about the project and arts in the criminal justice system.
Once registered, prior to the event, a Zoom link will be sent to you via email.
