🔥 NEW ZEALAND PREMIERE – CROCODILE FEVER 🔥

Northern Ireland, 1989.
A farmhouse window shatters… and with it, any hope of peace.
Rebellious Fianna Devlin crashes back into the life of her pious sister Alannah, and within moments, old wounds are ripped wide open. Reunited in their bleak family home after the death of their tyrannical father, the sisters are at each other’s throats in seconds.
But when Fianna discovers their father may not be quite as dead as they thought…
all hell breaks loose.
Crocodile Fever is a riotous, unrelenting dark comedy by Meghan Tyler. Ferociously funny, wildly physical, and unapologetically bold. This is sisterhood at full tilt: sharp-tongued, soaked in 80’s anthems, fuelled by Taytos, booze, buried rage… and yes, a chainsaw.
It won’t end happily.
But it will end gloriously.
After premiering to critical acclaim at Edinburgh’s Traverse Theatre in 2019 and entertaining London audiences in 2025, the Gaslight Theatre is delighted to be bringing the New Zealand premiere to the stage in May 2026.
Directed by Steve McMurray, and starring a talented cast, we're sure this plays debut will have a lasting impression on our local theatre scene.
International praise for this bold play:
“An explosive dark comedy… ferociously feminist” -The Guardian
“Quentin Tarantino would be jealous” - The Times
“Astounding...a smack in the face in all of the best ways possible” - The Skinny
“This play is a bloody masterpiece in every sense, the dialogue pinging around the space, laughter dying in your throat”- British Theatre
“Gleefully dark and gory comedy” – The Stage
