📣 Considering new developments we've collectively decided to change the date for the rally to May 24 |1-3pm 📍Union Square (by the stairs across the street from Whole Foods). Please adjust your RSVP to "GOING. The dogs need you. Make them your priority.Following the historic mobilization at Ridglan Farms in Wisconsin, New York City is joining the national call to "Free all Beagles." Ridglan Farms has already agreed to surrender its state breeding license by July 1, 2026, to avoid animal cruelty charges—but dogs are still there. Without urgent intervention, these survivors could be sold to other research labs or face an uncertain future.
Even though 1,500 beagles were released to Big Dog Ranch Rescue and other groups, we are gathering in New York City to send a clear message to our federal and local representatives: July 1 is too late. We demand an immediate, humane transition plan that places all the dogs in loving homes. Every last one.
Why We Are Rallying
The Findings: Wisconsin courts have already found probable cause for animal cruelty, including surgeries performed without anesthesia and chronic psychological distress from extreme confinement.
The National Movement: While activists are on the front lines in Wisconsin, our job in New York is to create the political pressure necessary to ensure federal oversight of the facility’s closure.
The Petition: We are collecting signatures to demand that Governor Tony Evers and the USDA intervene to stop any further research or sales of these beagles before the facility shuts its doors.
What We Will Do
Petition Drive: Our primary goal is to double our local signature count. We need outgoing volunteers to engage the public and explain the urgency of the July 1st deadline.
Representative Outreach: We will be providing materials for attendees to call and email their representatives on-site.
Visual Demonstration: We will stand in solidarity with the activists who were tear-gassed and arrested during the Wisconsin "Open Rescue" attempt, ensuring their sacrifice leads to real legislative change. Our guest speakers will be announced here. There may be new development so please stand by for updates.
We're hoping to fundraise for a mobile billboard truck, which will circle the heavy foot traffic, Union Square area. Videos playing on 3 large led screens will bring attention to thousands of people and expose the horrific truth behind the vivisection/ bio research industry and its victims. Footage will include March and April's groundbreaking actions that have led to the release of 1,500 beagle from Ridgland Farms.
