Citizens Revival Screening brought to you by BriteHeart and This Is Noteworthy

TOPIC FOR THE NIGHT: HOW DO ARTIVISTS IMPACT COMMUNITIES & DEMOCRACY? WHERE DO I BEGIN? HOW DO I KNOW WHAT THE NEXT "RIGHT" STEP WILL BE.

Come join us for a special (friends, family, cast, crew, participants) Director's Cut screening & discussion of the documentary Citizens Revival at the Einstein Auditorium of New York University. This in-person event will feature a thought-provoking film that explores the power of grassroots movements in shaping our civic communities, particularly with a focus on education & participation. Don't miss this opportunity to be inspired and connect with like-minded individuals.

This is a free screening with limited seating, so please RSVP. Film with be followed by a Q&A with several of the film's creators, and NYU MFA Candidate, artist Marlos E'van, who stars in the film.

8pm wrap it up

Filmed in 7 communities around the US between March 2024 and November 2024, a group of interested creatives from all sides of the aisle decided to partner up and get curious about what real people were doing in real time to get involved in their communities, especially as it revolved around civic participation.

Citizens Revival is an educational, awareness film first and foremost that lives in community. Much like democracy itself, it is driven by the people: every participant, educator, public servant, and audience member who engages with it. It doesn't project. It just witnesses, without creating conflict. It asks us not for results, but shows where windows of opportunities arise for each of us to be more engaged. This is a film that is accessible to all ages and levels of understanding. It gives the opportunities for parents & grandparents to engage with their kids, allows the children to ask the hard WHY questions, and figure out how we can foster a better education system as it pertains to democracy, and how it works before it's too late.

The film explores the state of our democracy, largely from the perspective of young people with a focus on education. It’s full of hope, joy, and energy, but also the challenges and obstacles to meaningful participation in our system.

We look forward to sharing our creative process in the making of this film, and for feedback as we move to our final edit. As artists, vulnerability shared while in process can keeps us off the sidelines until we are ready. We are ready to start our conversation now, and with you. Here's to art that makes a difference. You are part of that process by showing up. Thank you.

A very special thanks to NYU for hosting this specicial screening.
