About this Event
East Georgia Regional Medical Center hosts a monthly breastfeeding class, taught by an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. This class provides evidenced-based, up-to-date breastfeeding information, designed to help moms and babies get off to the best start possible. One of the best ways to do that is to learn all that you can before your baby is born!
Topics include:
- Preparing for breastfeeding
- What to expect during your hospital stay
- Various breastfeeding positions and tips to ensure an effective latch
- Pumping breast milk, breast milk storage, and strategies for increasing milk production
- Going back to work and continuing to breastfeed
- Common challenges in the early days and weeks of breastfeeding
There will also be plenty of time for questions. Individual consultation and education is provided during your hospital stay. You may wish to bring a pillow to the classes for comfort.
Class is free, but registration is required. Classes will be held in the Women's Pavilion Classroom at EGRMC. Please park in the Women's Pavilion parking lot located behind the hospital, and enter through the main entrance. The Classroom is located on your right as you enter the building.
