About this Event
Key Learning Outcomes
This digital workshop, delivered over the course of two afternoon sessions, focuses on the Numicon Big Ideas publication - written for pupils in Upper Key Stage 2 or Key Stage 3 (who need a more secure understanding of key mathematical concepts taught in the upper primary maths curriculum. It is designed to give you the opportunity to:
- Develop an understanding of the Numicon manipulatives and how they make abstract mathematical ideas real and ‘visible’
- Explore the C-P-A approach and the potential of Numicon Manipulatives to support deeper understanding in mathematics
- Experience the Numicon approach in action and consider how it can successfully support the learning needs of children who have not yet met age related expectation at the end of Key Stage 2 and on transition into KS3.
- Explore the ‘Big Ideas’ in the KS2 primary curriculum which children can find difficult
- Discover useful ideas and strategies to support teaching and learning in maths which can be applied back in your classroom
