About this Event
We kicked off our lecture series just a stone’s throw from MISTER ADAM, also known as Adam Oostenbrink’s studio, located in the industrial heart of Amsterdam East. Sharing his workspace with Amsterdam Signpainters, he produces a vibrant and multidisciplinary body of work, spanning from self-initiated lettering projects to commissioned pieces. In his presentation, he will unveil the many facets of his creative identity, all driven by his deep passion for typography.
—MISTER ADAM is a (typo)graphic designer, printmaker, and design educator at ArtEZ University of the Arts. From his studio in Amsterdam-Oost, he creates multi-disciplinary work for a wide range of clients. Blending digital and traditional techniques, his type-o-graphic style is unstrained, colorful, lively, and outspoken.Adam has worked with global brands like Karl Lagerfeld, TNT Worldwide, and Adidas, while also initiating personal projects driven by experimentation, research, collaboration, and a passion for high quality, handmade limited editions. His work has been featured in numerous publications and exhibitions.

In this lecture, Adam will dive into his many trades; working for clients, collaborating with students, creating free work and how they all interconnect. Expect a visual feast: from screen prints to woodtype, packaging- to exhibition design, kids’ lettering to risograph zines, and dada-inspired student work. Adam loves getting his hands dirty, as long as type and lettering are involved. To top it off, there will be a special sale at the end of the lecture. Adam will bring some of the very last copies of his hand-printed posters, no longer available elsewhere, making this a rare opportunity to get your hands on one.
