The Rover Unit Management course is an afternoon of learning and discussion that will help you to become a better Rover.It extends the knowledge you gained from eLearning and your Scouting Essentials course and helps you to apply it in a Rover context.
Things you’ll lean about include:
* Getting your BP Award
* Making the most of your RA
* Managing your Unit's money
* Making decisions as a Unit
* The culture, traditions and history of the Rover Section
Develop your leadership skills and knowledge, as well as making new friends.
Lunch included
In the morning, we'll be running an express Scouting Essentials course. Specially designed by Scouts Australia, the express course upskills Rovers who have learned how Scouting works by being active participants in Scouting. The express option is the right course for you if you have:
- Completed at least 2 Milestone badges during your time as a Scout
- Been part of your Unit Council, a Region Executive, Subcommittee, or VRC
- Evidence demonstrating your risk assessment and management skills
These morning sessions are all about starting to think like a Scout Leader - empowering your Rovers, understanding organisational rules, and sharpening your risk management skills.
Rovers who have already completed a Scouting Essentials course are able to skip the Essentials sessions in the morning and join us a little before lunchtime.
To attend the express Scouting Essentials course, you will need to have done some eLearning on https://training.scouts.com.au
- The 3 mandatory modules (Adult Code of Conduct, Child Safe Scouting, and WHS for Scouting)
- The 5 Scouting Preliminary modules
- The 10 Scouting Essentials modules
Rovers who attended our previous Unit Management courses in June and November are very welcome to join us for the express Scouting Essentials components in the morning (subject to the eligibility requirements above)
