We will assemble at the Four Mile Creek Trailhead(https://www.visithenrico.com/business/four-mile-creek-trailhead) across the street from the Dairy Queen on New Market Road, aka Route 5, then strike out North, going through Four Mile Park, crossing under I-295 and continuing to Dory Park. After taking a rest stop and taking the obligatory group photo at the halfway point we will loop around the lake in Dorey Park and return to Four Mile Creek Park(https://www.parksandrecbusiness.com/articles/2018/7/traversing-the-four-mile-creek-trail) on the Virginia Capital Trail just in time for lunch at Portabella's(http://www.portabellastogo.com/)!
This is a five and a half mile hike on an improved pedestrian/bicycle path. There is no requirement to be able to leap a tall building in a single bound or negotiate tree roots, rocks, rustic trails, stairs, low hanging vines, toxic plants, raptors, migratory waterfowl or river rocks. Just lookout for bikers and the occasional jogger. This hike rates a nine on the ten point easy scale. Like Goldilocks said, "It's just right!".
Hikes begin at the posted time, not five or ten minutes later. If you are unfamiliar with the meet up location, add a few minutes to your travel schedule so you can find us. If you need help with directions, click on the inset map (See "How To Find Us") to display a larger interactive map. When you select "Directions" (upper left) the best route from your location to the Meet Up rendezvous spot will be calculated for you. Before the hike be sure to place anything that might invite theft in your trunk before you leave your car parked while you are hiking.
• What to bring
Water bottle, clothing appropriate for the season, a cap or a bonnet, practical footwear, aspirin, insect repellent, shoelaces, dry clothes (for after the hike), & band aids.

Primitive restroom facilities are available at Dory Park and the Four Mile Creek Trail Head.
This is a popular spot for bicyclists and hikers and parking may be limited. Suggest you arrive early enough to get a parking spot or carpool.
