About this Event
Nottingham Mental Health Peer Researcher Gathering
Are you a researcher of mental health, substance use or neurodivergence who also has lived or living experience? Come along to meet other mental health peer/lived experience researchers, to find out about a new initiative, the IMH Peer Research Academy, and to hear about what other Nottingham-based researchers with lived experience are doing in their work.
What is a peer researcher?
Peer researchers are people who do research into health-related topics of which they have personal experience, and who have some interest in using those experiences, whether in their own research, with other peer researchers, or more publicly. There are more of us than you might think!
The Nottingham Institute of Mental Health Peer Research Academy has been set up to help create a healthy environment for peer researchers across the UK, with an initial focus on those engaged in mental health, substance use and neurodivergence research.
As part of our work, we are hosting public meetings for peer/lived experience researchers associated with the city of Nottingham, who may be independent researchers, or volunteer/ work in a healthcare trust, local government, or either of the two universities in Nottingham.
We’ve held these kinds of meetings in the past, and found that people benefit from meeting other peer/lived experience researchers, and talking about the opportunities and challenges that we experience.
Meeting details
Our first meeting will be on 18th May 2026, in the Institute of Mental Health. We will hear from speakers between 2-4 pm, and there will be a chance to chat with refreshments until 5 pm.
There are 50 places as this is the maximum capacity of our venue, so you’ll need to book a free ticket to attend through Eventbrite.
If you book a ticket, and then find you can’t attend, please cancel your ticket to make space for another peer researcher to attend.
We look forward to meeting you on 18th May 2026!
