Explore Nottingham's 1920s and 1930s architecture, learn about the development of shopping and socializing, and discover intriguing details that often go unnoticed.
On this tour, you'll get to see the work of local architects such as T. Cecil Howitt, H. Alderman Dickman, Alfred J. Thraves, and more. You'll also uncover how the Palais de Danse added a touch of glamour to Nottingham and seek out remnants of the Art Deco era, including hints of streamline moderne and even some Egyptian hanging gardens.
The walk, guided by Lucy, the creator of the Watson Fothergill Walk, covers a distance of approximately 2km (1.25 miles) and lasts for around 2 hours. Please come prepared for any type of weather and wear appropriate footwear.
We will meet outside the Clock Tower of Victoria Centre on Milton Street (next to McDonald's) and aim to conclude the walk at Sneinton Market.
