About this Event
Sexual conflict, whether it's due to miscommunication, differing desires, or misunderstandings, is an inevitable aspect of intimate relationships. This workshop provides participants with tools and frameworks to identify, navigate, and resolve sexual conflict with respect, empathy, and clear communication. Using a blend of theory, real-world case studies, and interactive exercises, participants will explore their own conflict resolution styles and learn how to engage in healthy, productive conversations about sexual differences. By the end of the workshop, attendees will be able to approach sexual conflict with confidence, compassion, and a stronger sense of mutual respect.
Key Takeaways:
- Identifying the Root Cause of Conflict – Learn to differentiate between surface-level issues and deeper concerns, such as misaligned desires, lack of communication, or emotional vulnerability.
- Navigating Difficult Conversations – Develop strategies for approaching sensitive conversations with empathy and active listening, ensuring that both partners feel heard and respected.
- Building Conflict Resolution Skills – Understand and practice conflict resolution techniques such as "I" statements, active listening, and reframing negative language, to create a safe space for resolution.
- Recognizing and Addressing Power Dynamics – Explore how power dynamics influence sexual conflict, particularly in relationships where there may be issues of consent, dominance, or communication barriers.
- Creating a Mutual Understanding – Foster mutual respect through collaborative problem-solving, where both parties work together to find solutions that honor each individual’s needs and boundaries.
- Healthy Boundaries and Negotiation – Learn the importance of boundary-setting and negotiation in maintaining healthy, consensual, and satisfying sexual relationships.
- Practical Tools for Aftercare – Understand the importance of aftercare in resolving sexual conflict, and how emotional support and reassurance can repair trust and intimacy post-conflict.
Learning Objective:
- By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to recognize and articulate the five primary causes of sexual conflict in less than 3 minutes.
- Participants will demonstrate the ability to practice at least two conflict resolution strategies in role-play scenarios by the end of the session, showing an improvement in their ability to de-escalate a sexual conflict by 50%.
- By the conclusion of the workshop, participants will be able to outline a step-by-step framework for navigating difficult sexual conversations, including how to establish boundaries, offer empathy, and negotiate solutions, within a 5-minute discussion.
- By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to create a plan of action for when conflict arises.
