Engage with a traditional artform in a new contemporary context as you explore free form embroidery. Be welcomed into a space where you can connect with others as you sew in a friendly and fun environment.Apply upcycling principles and an awareness of textile waste to create a unique piece of art. Build on the idea of eco-textiles and slow stitching as a movement and make the whole item by hand. In this class you will create a simple embroidery design that uses recycled fabrics and threads.
Learn how to make yarn from old t-shirts. Master the simple stitch technique of couching. Understand how to finish the work so your creation can be displayed using an embroidery hoop.
You have an option to purchase a kit priced at $36. It includes: an embroidery hoop, backing fabric, needle and 5 colours embroidery floss + access to the tutors collection of threads.
