About this Event
(Not) That Bad is written and performed by Catherine McCafferty. McCafferty will take you on the journey of her life: growing up in a family affected by alcoholism, coming out of the closet late, getting engaged to her first gay partner, having her engagement end, watching her dad die, getting sexually assaulted, and (arguably) worst of all shitting herself in public. Catherine stands by her promise that the show, her life, and her personality are truly not that bad.
A dark comedy, (Not) That Bad will highlight the duality of our lived experience with the stories we deem palatable for others. The show strives to explore that tragedy plus jokes equals comedy because time isn’t linear. Grief is a circle and that circle can and should have some really funny speed bumps along the way.
If life's journey isn’t where we are going but how we got there, it's also about how we tell people we got there. (Not) That Bad will tell the story of how McCafferty has come to the conclusion her life is funny, sometimes Ha-Ha funny and sometimes like getting hit by a car on your birthday funny- because tragedy has comedic timing too.
