Come and dance in the Cornish ‘Nos Lowen’ (‘Happy Night’) style to an exciting mix of contemporary takes on Cornish folk classics and upbeat original music performed by electro-folk pioneer, Martha Woods.
A ‘Nos Lowen’ (Cornish for ‘Happy Night’) is an evening of Cornish music and simple dances chosen to get everyone joining in. Electro-folk pioneer and creator of one of Folk London Magazine’s Albums of the Year 2025 Martha Woods brings the Nos Lowen into a present-day landscape combining folk-style fiddle and singing with electronic beats and contemporary sounds, performing a mixture of original songs and tunes, reimagined traditional Cornish material and occasional Cornish language pop covers!
No dance experience is needed for joining in with a Nos Lowen. The dances (which are all either traditional or inspired by Cornish dance traditions) are never more challenging than the Hokey Cokey, Conga or Macarena and are designed so that everyone can join in and pick them up quickly. There will be dance leaders on hand and a workshop at the beginning of the evening so you can get some practice before dancing the night away!
