[If you're new or haven't come since we started meeting at Rocky Hill Cohousing, make sure to read this for more details about where to go and park.]We're the regular Northampton area meetup for readers of the blog Astral Codex Ten, by the psychiatrist and science and politics pundit Scott Alexander. ACX is one of the top couple of best-known publications from the rationalist community, a worldwide movement of enthusiasts interested in trying to bring a higher standard of reason and critical thinking to science, policy and everyday life. This gathering is part of the Spring 2026 edition of the biannual "Meetups Everywhere" event held by Scott (https://www.astralcodexten.com/p/spring-meetups-everywhere-2026-call).
We started as part of the 2018 Meetups Everywhere event and have been going ever since, though had a dip during the COVID era. We aim to meet every other Saturday evening for most meetups; most planning happens in our Discord on the #scheduling-chat and #scheduling-voting channels (see below for link to an invite). Most events get 4-7 people, with a nice mix of regulars, people who come occasionally, and brand new faces once in a while. As with most areas, Meetups Everywhere events usually get a boost in attendance; more like 7-8 for us.

(For those unfamiliar, Florence is a village inside of Northampton. Some maps services show the address as in Florence, some in Northampton.)
PARKING INFO
Please park along the righthand side of Black Birch Trail where the sign says "Event Parking." Overflow parking is available in the resident lots to the right or left of the stop sign.
Extra Info For Potential Attendees (quoting Scott):
1. If you’re reading this, you’re invited. Please don’t feel like you "won’t be welcome" just because you’re new to Astral Codex Ten, demographically different from the average reader, or hate ACX and everything it stands for. You’ll be fine!
2. You don’t have to RSVP or contact the organizer to be able to attend. RSVPs are mostly to give organizers a better sense of how many people might show up, and let them tell you if there are last-second changes.
