The purpose of this tournament is to promote community involvement in lionfish harvesting off the coast ofJacksonville, Florida, helping to remove this invasive species from our reefs and wrecks. Since our inaugural year in
2024, participants have successfully removed 2,373 lionfish from local waters.
The tournament is held in conjunction with the FWC State Lionfish Challenge and is conducted with their full
support. As you may know, lionfish pose a significant threat to Florida’s marine ecosystems. Events like this play a vital
role in ongoing efforts to reduce their impact and help restore balance to our coastal environments.
