About this Event

North Cormorant Island - Free Screening and Q&A

Join us in person for a free screening of North Cormorant Island, a unique film about time, place, mortality and human relationships with the land and the sea. The film blends observational documentary in the remote fishing village of Kitaushima on Sado Island with poetic reflections on the director’s childhood in his father’s village in Wales. The film has won several honours, including the Audience Award at the 2024 Tokyo Documentary Film Festival and Silver Award at the 2024 Spotlight Documentary Awards.

Stick around afterward for an engaging Q&A with the writer, director, and producer, John Williams, Visiting Professor of Japanese Studies at Oxford Brookes University.
