"An inspiring, highly relevant and heartwarming audience pleaser"
Ola is a 30-year-old man who lives in a small village in Norway with a very diverse group of people. They try to live life at a slower pace in harmony with nature, and their community is founded on values such as empathy, respect, and mutual interdependence.
Ola generally enjoys his life and is an engaged, witty, and sincere individual. He has a mild intellectual disability, and he reflects very openly about his condition. When Ola loses an important aspect of his life, he reflects on his existence and considers how he can become more self-reliant.
«Being Ola» is an endearing portrait of an exceptional young man who puts his heart into striving for equality, acceptance, and independence. It's an impactful film that helps bridge the gap between 'us' and 'them', and it explores the importance of freedom of speech, specifically for individuals with disabilities. «Being Ola» is a coming of age story, far away from the wars and conflicts of this time, and with a massive heart.
The film was shown in Norwegian theaters from October 2023- February2024, and the audience embraced the film. The Norwegian Broadcasting, NRK TV has shown it several times, and the film is in their arkive to be used. «Being Ola» got an «Honorable Mention» at the Human International Film Festival and has received the highest rating from the critics.
It has had a run of full houses at Norwegian Festivals, (TIFF, Haugesund, Kosmorama, Human etc).International festivals such as "The Krakow Filmfestival" in Poland and "Biografilm Festival" in Bologna,Italy - also embraced the film.
Suggested donation is $15 per person and the movie is from ages 12 and up.
