Come and join us for five days of chambermusic, concerts and great musical adventures, in the wonderful city of Tórshavn at the Faroe Islands, together with many other saxophone players! The Nordic Saxophone Festival is a unique student festival, focussing on the classical and contemporary saxophone in chamber music settings.
The festival is one-of-a-kind in the way that it focuses mainly on playing chamber music and concerts together with other saxophonists, and in this way broadening especially the students' performance skills and international network.
Participants are divided into different ensembles that work together during the festival, and prepare pieces to be performed at the concerts in the festival.� In this way the students will get to play with many different players, get to know a lot of new repertoire and get some great experience on stage by playing concerts together!
Participants are encouraged to send in suggestions for possible pieces that could be performed at the festival. �The final program of the festival depends on whom and how many saxophonists are joining.

The festival has been taking place (almost) every year since 2009, and is this year held in Tórshavnar Musikkskúli/FI, in collaboration with the Faroese saxophonist Kristina Thede Johansen, on the 12th to 16th of April 2025, both days included!
Participation in the festival is free, but all other costs (travels, hotels ect.) are on the participants own account.�
There is a possibility for free accommodation in “The House of the Scouts” in Tórshavn. This option is mainly for students and is free of charge. The house fits 40 people and will be first come first served. It is very basic and offers a place to sleep for free. You just need to bring your own sleeping bag or similar for this option.
For your travel arrangements, please be aware that the festival starts in the morning at 10am on the 12th of April, and ends around 22pm in the evening of 16th of April. It is crucial to be present all the days, and we recommend arriving to Tórshavn on the 11th of April.
Chamber music instructors will be available.
