About this Event
Music is all about communication, and nowhere was this more evident than in the friendships and connections that grew from the Nordic Music Days festival, which took place in Glasgow in 2024. As part of the festival’s legacy, Scottish Ensemble will perform a showcase programme of short works (or extracts from longer pieces) by Swedish and Scottish composers.Expect innovation, variety, exploration and adventure.
Music inspired by birdsong sits alongside references to industrial heritage. Shadows dominate one piece, colour another. Will you be fascinated by a work with its roots in wild cabbage, or by one with solid, slate foundations?
A second programme of Sonic Art works will take place at 3pm, with tickets to both concerts available for an extra £1. Speakers will be placed in each corner of the room with the audience in the centre, as immersive soundscapes transport you to places both real and imagined.
Works were selected from an open call, and are a mixture of complete works and excerpts of longer pieces (each under 6 minutes in length). These performances are snapshots of the latest music from both countries.
There will be two concerts, with tickets available for £5 for one performance or £6 for both.
