About the Artists
The Emerald Ensemble is a professional chamber choir featuring the finest voices in the Seattle area conducted by Gary D. Cannon. The Emerald Ensemble enlightens the mind, uplifts the heart, and enriches the soul through great choral music presented with passion and skill. We envision a world made better through great choral music.
Since its first concert in November 2016, which included all six of Bach's motets, the Emerald Ensemble has presented music from the Renaissance to the current day. Typically the Ensemble consists of eight to twelve singers performing without instruments. Over fifty musicians have performed with the Emerald Ensemble, in ensembles ranging in size from two to twenty-four. Performances venues for primary concerts have included Seattle, Bellevue, and Vashon Island, with smaller events throughout the greater Seattle area.
Beyond traditional concerts and recordings, we also aim to bring music directly to locations where the arts rarely extend, such as schools, prisons, hospice care facilities, or homeless shelters. By freely providing choral music to underserved groups, we hope to enrich and enliven a broad scope of listeners.
