On April 15, 6:00 pm, join Mid-Missouri Sierra Club at the Daniel Boone Regional Library, Friends Room, for a program presented by Melinda Hemmelgarn. Melinda is a registered dietitian, and host of nationally syndicated “Food Sleuth Radio.” She also serves on the Board of Beyond Pesticides, a national non-profit that works to reduce the use of harmful pesticides and maintain the integrity of USDA’s organic certification. An advocate for home and community gardens, her garden was featured on the 2024 Peaceworks Edible Garden Tour. Melinda will present a program about neighborhood pesticides and lawn and garden products and alternatives, and connect the dots between lawn chemicals and climate change. She'll also shine a light on the danger of chemical mixtures and why children are more vulnerable. We'll have light refreshments beginning at 6 pm, with the program starting no later than 6:30.
