Take a Walk Through HERstory with Nomad Theatre Company
This Women’s History Month, Nomad Theatre Company proudly presents their third installment of Pop-Up HERstory, an immersive theatrical experience that brings the stories of remarkable women from history to life. As part of the company’s Detour projects, this unique production spotlights real women who have left an indelible mark on history, sharing their stories through original monologues and scenes written by local writers.
This year’s featured historical figures include:
Mary Wollstonecraft (1759-1797)—feminist philosopher played by Anne Cook & Mary Shelley (1797-1851)—writer of Frankenstein played by Jackie Cook]
Jane Addams (1860-1935)—social worker and world peace advocate [played by Ann B. White]

Claudette Colvin (1939-2026)—Civil Rights activist [played by Darraugh Maxine]

Sally Ride (1951-2012)—astronaut [played by Jem Darragh]
Tammi Terrell (1945-1970)—Motown singer [played by Catrina Parker]
Sophie Scholl (1921-1943)—Hitler youth turned anti-Nazi [played by Hannah Brown]
Josephine Baker (1906-1975)—dancer, spy, activist [played by Shay Turner]
Jane Goodall (1934-2025)—primatologist and anthropologist [played by Diane Boeck] & Maria Sibylla Merian (1647-1717)—naturalist and artist (scientific illustrator) [played by Brooke Moonan]
Their inspiring journeys will be performed amidst the book stacks of both the Bloomington Public Library and Normal Public Library.
