April 11, 2026Attention all guys, dolls, everyone on the North Coast!
Join us at the Clarke Historical Museum for our first fundraiser of 2026—Noir at the Clarke, a 1920s-40s speakeasy-themed evening of fun, with wine and cocktails (password required!), hors d’oeuvres, live music, silent auction, and plenty of hardboiled entertainment! Thanks to community members like you participating in our fundraisers, we will be able to keep educating and preserving our local history.
The theme is the 1920s through the 40s—why choose one when all three decades are so rich with history, atmosphere, and epic fashion?—and guests are encouraged to dress up their favorite glad rags. We’re transforming our Weapons Room into a speakeasy—only the best giggle juice will be served, provided you have the password! We have some fantastic entertainment lined up, including live music by Swingo Domingo, local author James Arthur Donzella reading from his hard-boiled novel The Dead Don’t Pay, and actors performing short skits parodying classic film noir scenes.
Flapper dresses from the museum’s collection will be on display the night of the event, along with a special pop-up exhibit on prohibition in Humboldt. Our gift shop and Cottage at the Clarke will have special merch themed for the occasion, and there'll be a silent auction. There will also be a vintage automobile or two in front of the museum to help set the mood!
All of this will be topped off with mouth-watering appetizers from Lost Coast Catering (formerly Uniquely Yours), era-appropriate cocktails, wine, champagne, and a special mocktail (The Hatchet Granny) for designated drivers. Price of admission includes one free drink, with a no-host bar if you want more giggle juice.
As a non-profit organization, all proceeds from the event go straight back into the museum. Tickets are $35 for members of the Clarke Museum, and $45 for non-members—and they’re tax deductible—and can be purchased on the Clarke Museum website at https://www.clarkemuseum.org/noir-at-the-clarke.html or by calling the museum at 707-443-1947. You can also stop by the museum in person to buy tickets—we would love to see you! And if you’re not currently a member, now is a great time to join!
The mission of the Clarke Historical Museum is to celebrate the rich and varied history of Northwestern California by preserving, sharing, and interpreting that history in ways that increase knowledge, enrich the spirit, engage the mind, and stimulate the imagination.
