About this Event

NO MERCY
LIVE FROM THE DOJO (inside DIPiazzas)
Open Mic Video Night & Short Film Screening (Long Beach, CA)
Presented by LBVM (The Pound Video Magazine)

NO MERCY is a live open mic video night where anything can hit the screen.

Short films, music videos, comedy clips, YouTube edits, experimental work… if it’s under 5 minutes, it’s eligible.

You can submit a video or just pull up and be part of the crowd.

HOW TO SUBMIT:

Option 1 (Day of event FREE):
🕓 4:00 PM – 4:30 PM SHARP
No late entries. No exceptions.
VIDEOS START PLAYING AT 5PM SHARP

👉 filmfreeway.com/NOMERCYDOJO

IMPORTANT (IN PERSON SUBMISSIONS):
No links. No AirDrop. No excuses.
Hard drives or USB only.

If you miss the window, you’re in the crowd.

HOW IT WORKS:

All videos go into the Dojo Bowl and get pulled at random.
No curation. No politics. Everyone has the same odds.

Once your video starts, you get 60 seconds to win the room.

If the crowd is into it, it keeps playing.
If not, it gets cut and we move on.

It’s fast, unpredictable, and loud.

A live panel of filmmakers and comedians reacts in real time, and every creator gets a quick interview about their work.

The entire night is filmed and released on YouTube, giving everyone exposure beyond the room.

At the end of the night, the crowd votes for the Audience Award Winner. *Prize included

WHAT TO EXPECT:

• Open mic style video showcase
• Short films, music videos, comedy, anything goes
• Live crowd reactions + panel feedback
• Drinks, music, and a packed room
• Audience voting + winner of the night
• A full night out, not a film festival

Whether you’ve got something to show or just want a wild night out,
this is where it happens.

About the panel:
The panel rotates with new people from episode to episode.
The panel is comprised of industry professionals.
On this month's panel we are joined by Lamont Oakley, Travis Beck, and Ras-1.
Ras-1 coming out of the Long Beach reggae underground through Jah Children, Richard Arthur Smith brought his guitar, his voice, and a sound that was already fully formed when he stepped in as a founding member of the Long Beach Dub Allstars.

He co-wrote "Sunny Hours." He wrote "Trailer RAS." Songs that still hit on a beach speaker twenty years later like they were made this morning.=

After the Allstars, he kept building with Sublime bassist Eric Wilson in Long Beach Shortbus.

Visual artist. Musician. Long Beach to the bone. He starred in the Long Beach feature film SORRY and his self-titled EP dropped on Fat Mike of NOFX's Fat Wreck Chords under the banner "Bottles to the Ground," original Long Beach reggae, no apologies, no detours.

He's still writing. Still recording. Still performing. Same city, same RAS-1.

Lamont Oakley A working actor with deep roots in Los Angeles theater, Oakley is the kind of performer other performers watch. He brought his talents to Theatre Movement Bazaar's Grail Project, a contemporary unraveling of the Arthur Legend told through original text, song, dance, and a physicality that doesn't look like anything else on a stage.

The production won the Ovation Award for Best Ensemble. The Ovation is the West Coast's Tony. Peer judged. No politics. Just working theater professionals voting for who actually brought it.

He also starred in the Long Beach feature film SORRY, holding his own on screen the same way he does on stage, with presence, range, and zero wasted motion.

Theater. Film. It doesn't matter the format. The man shows up and delivers.

Travis Beck is a comedian, actor, musician and Location Manager based in Los Angeles. He is originally from Lincoln, Nebraska.

After moving to LA in the summer of 2013, he worked his way up from PA, to Location Manager in the span of 5 years.

As a Location Scout & Manager, he has worked with some of the biggest Directors & Brands in the world. His latest feature film credit, Henry Johnson, stars Shia LeBeouf, and was Written & Directed by David Mamet.

Commercial Brands he's worked with recently include: Walmart, Ford, American Express, Kawasaki, Direct TV and BobCat.

He has done Music Videos for Charli XCX's "Party 4 U" (27M views on YouTube) and Victoria Monet's "On My Mama" (100M views)

He has performed comedy around the city, wrote and produced numerous sketches and acted in a handful of Lifetime Movies, as well as a feature film called Pug, which is currently being shopped around to streamers.

His most recent project, Madame Hula, is currently finishing up Post Production, before it hits the Festival Circuit.

When he’s not working or with his family, he enjoys gardening, camping and making podcasts about his behind-the-scenes work in Location Management. He can be found on Instagram @TravisLocations and on the web https://www.travisbeck.org/

Pull up. Take the screen. Survive the room.
