About this Event
Jazz returns Monday, May 6th with Baltimore native Brandon Woody, brought to you by our host Stretch Armstrong!
“When I went to see him, I had no idea what I was in for. He completely ripped the stage. Brandon is the best parts of old school jazz and new school jazz. Brandon is a person that everyone needs to be looking out for.” - Marcus Moore, New York Times
Trumpeter Brandon Woody is an alumnus of the Baltimore School for the Arts. He attended the Manhattan School of Music and studied with Cecile Bridgewater, Ambrose Akinmusire and Theljon Allen.
Most recently, Mr. Woody has joined Solange’s band, Standing on the Corner, and opened up for the Newport Jazz Festival. Brandon now leads his own ensemble, Upendo, which means “love” in Swahili.
Doors will open at 8:00pm with Brandon's performance starting at 9:00pm, followed by Stretch Armstrong playing records.
A portion of proceeds will go to the Seward Park Conservancy! For dinner or drinks, you can make a reservation at Corner Bar or Swan Room.
