• Mon corps le sait - Nina Willywonka Chati • (30 minutes)
«Suis-je suis censée être là ? Dans ce corps qui me semble parfois étranger, figé entre héritages et silences?» Avec ce solo de hip-hop et de popping, Willywonka interroge son identité, son appartenance et ce corps qui porte des mémoires invisibles. Entre contrôle et abandon, elle explore les tensions, les non-dits, les déformations et les renaissances d’une personne franco-algérienne en quête de légitimité. Mon corps le sait nous invite à habiter les silences, faire du manque de transmission un moteur de transformation. C’est une manière d’exister autrement, hors des assignations, en affirmant ses origines et le droit à la complexité.
“Am I supposed to be here? In this body that sometimes feels foreign to me, suspended between legacy and silence?” In this hip-hop and popping solo, Willywonka examines her identity and sense of belonging in a body heavy with invisible memories. Straddling the line between restraint and abandonment, she explores the tensions, the unspoken, the distortions and the rebirths of a Franco-Algerian searching for legitimacy. Mon corps le sait invites us to embrace the silence, to turn the unsaid into a driver of transformation. It offers a different way of existing, outside the box, reclaiming our origins in all their complexity.
• Make Me Cry - Tia Ashley Kushniruk • (30 minutes)
Make Me Cry est un solo existentiel sur la problématisation de la performance de la race sur scène telle que perçue par l’artiste Tia Ashley Kushniruk. Que signifie être l’objet plutôt que le sujet d’un fétiche? Qu’est-ce qui arrive quand notre image publique s’infiltre dans notre vie privée? L’abstraction peut-elle appartenir aux personnes qui ne sont pas blanches? Dans cette conférence-spectacle qui mélange danse, clown, anecdote et théorie de la performance, nous sommes guidé·es à travers le champ de mines du minstrel show auquel ne peuvent échapper les artistes PANDC dont les œuvres sont prisées par un public consommateur.
Make Me Cry is an existential solo about the problematization of the performance of race onstage filtered through the psyche of artist Tia Ashley Kushniruk. What does it mean to be the object versus the subject of a fetish? What happens when the public self follows one into private life? And can abstraction belong to those who aren’t white? Through a performance-lecture that uses dance, clown, anecdote and performance theory, we are brought to the minefield of minstrelsy that accompanies BIPOC artists creating work that is deemed valuable for the consuming public.
