Night of Sax


Marvin Taylor perfected his craft as a student of Virginia Commonwealth University, where he was a member of the VCU Jazz Ensemble.  Additionally, Taylor is an alumni of Berklee College of Music, and Virginia Union University 

Throughout his career, Taylor has played with some of Jazz Music’s greatest, including Dizzie Gillespie, Sonny Rollins, McCoy Tyner, Ronnie Laws, Christopher Williams, Clarence Carter, Sleepy Brown of Organized Noise, Lil John Roberts American Drummer, Vinx, Jerome Brailey of Parliament Funkadelics, Mutiny, Gladys Knight, Lou Rawls', Debra Laws, Tom BrowneSilk, Ronnie Jordan, Elon Troutman, Althea Renae, Jackiem Joyner, Nathaniel Mitchell, Rico Tyler, Nate Smith American Drummer, Carter Beauford of Dave Mathews Band, Ron Jenkins, Preston Crump, Jeff Sparks, Ashby Anderson, and Bob Baldwin.

In addition to performing with some of the jazz greats, Taylor has also shared the stage with many notable performers, such as Alex Bugnon, Kirk Whalum, Gerald Albright, Cyrus Chestnut, Nate Smith, Stanley Clarke, George Duke, Brothers Johnson, Loose Ends, Kim Waters, Najee, Al Jerreau, Bob James, Jeff Lorber, Carter Beauford, En Vogue, Norman Brown, Lalah Hathaway, Marcus Miller.

Talton Manning is a born musician. A former Music Business/Production Major at Old

Dominion University, Talton has over 26 year of experience playing the saxophone and engaging in other areas of music. With a solid background in classical, jazz, and gospel, he utilizes his platform to mentor and educate students from primary schools to collegiate levels. In the past years, Talton has gained extensive experience as a sound tech for Old Dominion University’s Chandler Hall and for Second Baptist Church of Richmond, VA. As a producer, he has 18 years of experience recording and production with software including FL Studios, Reason, Pro Tools, and Logic. For the last 9 years, Talton has organized managed, and lead the Different Perspective Jazz Band where they have been honored to play at numerous shows and events throughout the DMV area and are currently expanding their market across the country.

Keith Anderson began his musical career 50 years ago as a violinist one year before beginning his musical journey as a saxophonist.  Three years later, he was performing on his first professional recording while performing and touring with Larry Bland and the Volunteer Choir of Richmond, Virginia.  As he grew older, he began to flourish as a multi-talented musician, playing in several groups as lead guitarist, keyboardist, vocalist, and soprano, alto, and tenor saxophonist. 

Along with being an established recording artist, he has shared the stage with many global performers such as David Sanborn, Roberta Flack, Spyro Gyra, Third World, Chuck Brown, Kirk Whalum, and many other notable internationally recognized artists.  While he has several recordings to his credit, the most notable is the “Groove Skool Band - Limited Edition” CD in which he served as the lead instrumentalists on all selections alongside recent Billboard #1 smooth jazz chart topping artist Christian De Mesones

Keith serves as band leader for Cloud 9 Band which has performed regularly in the RVA area at the Virginia Museum of Fine Art’s Jazz Café series, CBS news affiliate WTVR 6’s “Good Morning, Virginia,” 2 Street Festival, and other live music venues throughout the area.
