This paddle will take us up the Niangua River Trail to visit Onyx Cave and the nearby wetland area. We will meet in the parking lot at the Ha Ha Tonka Spring Trail and be ready to launch at 12:30 PM.
This is a flatwater paddle of approximately 3 miles each way (about 6 miles round trip). Because there is no shuttle, all participants must be prepared to paddle back to the launch location.
⚠️ Important Trip Considerations
No landing areas: There are no places to get out of kayaks during the paddle, so participants should be comfortable remaining on the water for the duration of the trip.
Distance/endurance: Total paddling distance will be approximately 6 miles round trip.
Return time goal: We plan to return to the launch by approximately 5:30 PM.
Flatwater conditions: While currents are minimal, paddlers must still be able to maintain forward progress for the full distance.
🛶 Optional Paddle Clinic
An optional skills clinic will begin at 11:00 AM for anyone who would like additional instruction or warm-up time before the paddle.
Participants attending the clinic—or those who want to enjoy the area beforehand—are encouraged to bring lunch for a picnic prior to launching.
Signing the Waiver:
The American Canoe Association has implemented a new waiver system which we are still learning. For this event, ALL registrants will sign the "Non-Member Event Waiver (Free)" regardless of membership in the ACA. Non-ACA members will submit their $10 event membership fee to Show-Me Women Paddlers via this form and we will pass that on to the ACA.
