About this Event
Nutrient neutrality requirements are now a critical consideration in planning and development across Cornwall and Devon, particularly within sensitive catchments such as the River Camel.
This CPD session provides an engineering-focused overview of how ultra-low Phosphate wastewater treatment systems can be used to enable compliant development, septic tank upgrades, and phosphate mitigation strategies and to share experiences.
This session is delivered by Premier Water Solutions 10 Ltd, a Cornwall-based specialist consultancy and contractor working directly with planners, developers, and statutory authorities. They are the only company in the UK who are able to specify and install the NH4P0 Waste Water Treatment Plant.
What this session covers
• Current nutrient neutrality policy context and planning implications
• Septic tank upgrades and replacement strategies
• Phosphate and ammonia reduction targets in sensitive catchments
• Where standard septic tanks and conventional treatment plants fall short
• Introduction to NH₄P0 vertical flow labyrinth technology - see the treatment plant in person outside
• When General Binding Rules apply vs when an EA Bespoke Permit is required
• Why early engagement with a local, specialist delivery partner matters
By the end of this CPD, attendees will:
• Understand how wastewater treatment contributes to nutrient neutrality
• Be able to identify suitable sites for ultra-low nutrient treatment systems
• Understand regulatory routes for septic tank replacement and new discharge
• Gain confidence assessing wastewater proposals within planning submissions
• Recognise the operational risks of inappropriate system selection
About NH₄P0
NH₄P0 is an advanced wastewater treatment system designed specifically for ultra-low ammonia and phosphate discharge.
Key characteristics include:
• Exceptional effluent quality (ammonia and phosphate)
• Proven tolerance of variable occupancy and extended no-flow periods
• Suitable for rural dwellings, holiday accommodation, and small developments
• No chemical dosing or Possidieum Pellets - both not accepted by Natural England
• Intelligent control systems supporting long-term compliance
The system is particularly suited to nutrient-sensitive catchments and sites where resilience and real-world performance matter.
